Today marks the anniversary of the death of our dear John Paul II. We want to remember the words of his first sermon as Bishop of Rome, in making Sunday 22 October 1978:
<< Brothers and Sisters! Do not be afraid to welcome Christ and accept his power!
Help the Pope and all those who want to serve Christ and with Christ's power to serve the human person and of all humanity!
not be afraid! Open, open wide the doors to Christ !
To his saving power open the boundaries of States, economic and political systems, the vast fields of culture, civilization and development. Do not be afraid! Christ knows "what is in man." Only he knows! Today
so often the man does not know what goes in, deep in his mind, the his heart. So often he is uncertain of the meaning of his life on this earth. Is invaded by doubt that turns into despair. Allow me, then - please, I beg you with humility and trust - allow Christ to speak to the man. He alone has words of life, yes! of eternal life.>>
